VIOLA COULDN’T AFFORD AQUILANI

Fiorentina have revealed that the demands of the former Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani in terms of wages almost made the deal impossible. Fiorentina recently completed the signing of the Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani for an undisclosed fee.

The former Roma midfielder had fallen out of favour under all the previous managers at the club. He was signed by the former Liverpool manager Benitez many seasons ago, but injury problems and poor form have restricted him to starting only a handful of matches in these four seasons. Alberto Aquilani brought an end to the disappointing spell at Anfield in the summer by completing a permanent move to Italy.

He has signed a long-term deal with the Italian club Fiorentina, who are looking to get back into the glory days after struggling for the last couple of seasons. It was not long ago that the club were playing in the Champions League, but they now find themselves without the additional revenue from the competition. This coupled with the excessive wage demands of the player almost put the deal off according to the sporting director of the club. However, they were able to come to an agreement with the player after a few rounds of discussion.

“The most difficult operation? The one with Liverpool for Aquilani, who had a salary impractical for Fiorentina and perhaps also for all Italian clubs. We resolved it along with Liverpool, our good relations paid off. It was great taking back Aquilani to Fiorentina. Alberto in Florence will again be a top player,” said the sporting director of the club, Daniele Prade. So far, the arrival of Alberto Aquilani has worked wonders for the club after he has helped the club win two of the three matches in the new season. This has put Fiorentina in the sixth position in the table.

SIGNS FOR FIORENTINA

Former Liverpool midfielder, Alberto Aquilani, has signed for the Italian club Fiorentina. Aquilani had been training with the Liverpool team since the last few days and he also played for Liverpool in a pre season match at Toronto. But, all of a sudden, he decided to take transfer to the Italian club. Aquilani had played for Juventus and AC Milan in the previous two seasons on loan. He still had two years left in his contract with Liverpool.

Aquilani joined Liverpool in 2009 on a contract of 5 years. He made his debut for Liverpool against Arsenal in a match of the Carling Cup. But, he didn’t get many opportunities to play in the 2009-10 season. In the next two seasons, he played for two other clubs on loan. He put up some decent performances for AC Milan in the last season. After signing for Fiorentina, Aquilani said that Fiorentina is a historical club and he is very excited to represent Fiorentina in the upcoming season. The Italian midfielder admitted that he wasn’t able to perform according to his potential for Liverpool. As per Aquilani, he was not feeling comfortable in the Liverpool Camp and he wanted to make a move. Fiorentina showed interest in him and he decided to join the Italian club. Aquilani played 28 matches for Liverpool and he was able to score only 2 goals.

The authorities of Fiorentina have welcome Aquilani in the squad. The president of Fiorentina, Andrea Della Vale, said that he had seen Aquilani playing for Milan in the previous season. He is a bright prospect. He would get a very good environment here in Fiorentina and hopefully, he would flourish in the upcoming season. The president gave best wishes to Aquilani for the upcoming season.

AQUILANI WANTS A CHANCE

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has said that he wants to prove his worth and establish himself as a first team regular at his parent club Liverpool. The former Roma midfielder has been at two different clubs on loan deals in the last two seasons. After having tried on a number of times to make his move permanent at both Juventus and AC Milan, the 27-year-old has decided to stay at Merseyside. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers said a few days ago that he is prepared to offer the loan players a chance to prove themselves at the club.

It was initially reported that he would be interested in selling Alberto Aquilani in order to raise funds for the new arrivals. However, the Italian midfielder has said that he would like to stay with the English club have proved that his transfer fee of £ 20 million paid by the club to Roma in 2008 is fully worth it. Aquilani arrived at the club during the era of Rafael Benitez and was injured the first time he arrived at the club. Due to the fact that Liverpool’s midfield appeared very static under Kenny Dalglish, Brandon Rogers is prepared to introduce some life into the club through the form of Aquilani.

“How can you pay £20m for a player and this player is never taken into consideration?. I never asked to leave but I was always pushed by the club. I am here and I would like to play for Liverpool but it doesn’t depend only on me. I had a very good talk with Brendan where we were able to share our thoughts and it was a very positive chat. I like his footballing philosophy and I like the mentality he has because it matches my own skills,” said Aquilani ahead of the pre-season tour.

AQUILANI IN TALKS WITH LIVERPOOL

Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani’s future at the English club could be known in the next few days after it was revealed that he and his are currently in talks with the club. Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is responsible for bringing former Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani to Anfield for a massive outlay of £ 17 million. However, he has been extremely disappointing during his time at the English club, which has seen him leave the club on a loan deal on numerous occasions in the past. This summer, however, will decide the permanent future of Aquilani.

Liverpool recently appointed manager Brendan Rodgers as a replacement for Kenny Dalglish, who had a terrible second spell with Liverpool as they finished eighth in the table. Brendan Rogers is expected to start an evolution rather than a revolution at the club. He has already said that former Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole will be given every opportunity to stay at the club. It remains to be seen if Alberto Aquilani will get the same chance. The 27-year-old has been on loan at AC Milan, who decided not to make his loan move into a permanent one despite being impressive in the matches that he played for the Italian club.

“We had a meeting with English executives but for the time being, nothing has emerged. We expect a response from Liverpool which should arrive within the week. here is absolutely no possibility that Aquilani can become a free agent in order to then decide what to do. I don’t know if he wants to stay at Milan, we shall see. We just have to wait and see what happens and what Liverpool decides,” said Albert Aquilani’s agent Zavaglia in response to the future of his client. Aquilani only has two years left on his current contract with Liverpool.

DALGLISH WILL WELCOME ALBERTO

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has said that he is extremely looking forward to the return of Alberto Aquilani if the Italian decides to return to Anfield in the summer. Alberto Aquilani is currently on loan at Italian club AC Milan, where he is likely to sign permanently next season. The Italian had a time to forget at Anfield after arriving for a transfer fee of £ 20 million. He was signed by manager Rafa Benitez at a time when he was recovering from a major injury. Hence, he failed to assert his authority in a Liverpool first-team and was eventually loaned out to Juventus last season. The club failed to convert the deal into a permanent one, which once again led to his move to AC Milan in this season.

AC Milan signed him on a loan deal till the end of the season with the condition that they would be able to sign him permanently for just £ 6 million if he made 25 appearances during the season. The Italian is extremely close to reaching that mark, although only five matches remain in the season for AC Milan. Hence, there is a distinct possibility that Milan will not look at the possibility of signing him permanently, in which case they will return to Liverpool. Dalglish said that he would certainly welcome Aquilani back at the club if he decides to come back.

“If they don’t activate the clause he will be back here. At the end of the day if they don’t want him then he’ll come back here as he’s our player,” Dalglish said regarding the future of Aquilani. Liverpool are missing a number of central midfielders who can pass the ball this season due to the injury to Steven Gerrard. Dalglish also said that Charlie Adam will miss the remainder of the season.

AC PUT PEMANENT DEAL IN PLACE

Alberto Aquilani’s stay with the English Premier league club Liverpool looks finally over after it has revealed that the AC Milan have come to an agreement with Liverpool over the possibility of making the loan deal a permanent move in the summer. AC Milan have been signing a lot of players in recent seasons in order to bring down their average age of the squad. Alberto Aquilani is one of the perfect players to do so, as he is viewed as a replacement for Gattuso in the future. It is thought that Liverpool will be willing to accept a fee of around £ 6 million for the player, who was signed by then manager Rafa Benitez.

Alberto Aquilani has been out of favour at both Roy Hodgson and current manager Kenny Dalglish. As a result, they are willing to cut their losses on the player, for whom they paid £ 20 million a few seasons ago. However, the midfielder has not been able to settle in England at all, with the numerous injury problems not helping his case. Alberto Aquilani will be making his 25th appearance for AC Milan this season in the match against his former club Lazio. If he does so, then it would automatically activate the clause, which states that Alberto Aquilani will be sold to AC Milan for £ 6 million if he makes 25 appearances for the Italian club during the season.

“I want to win something important with Milan. I have been changing teams for three years now and I want to affirm myself at Milan by staying for a long time,” Aquilani said when he returned to Italy last season with Juventus. The loan spell with Juventus was not as successful as his current achievements with Italian Serie A leaders AC Milan.
