SIGNS FOR FIORENTINA

Former Liverpool midfielder, Alberto Aquilani, has signed for the Italian club Fiorentina. Aquilani had been training with the Liverpool team since the last few days and he also played for Liverpool in a pre season match at Toronto. But, all of a sudden, he decided to take transfer to the Italian club. Aquilani had played for Juventus and AC Milan in the previous two seasons on loan. He still had two years left in his contract with Liverpool.

Aquilani joined Liverpool in 2009 on a contract of 5 years. He made his debut for Liverpool against Arsenal in a match of the Carling Cup. But, he didn’t get many opportunities to play in the 2009-10 season. In the next two seasons, he played for two other clubs on loan. He put up some decent performances for AC Milan in the last season. After signing for Fiorentina, Aquilani said that Fiorentina is a historical club and he is very excited to represent Fiorentina in the upcoming season. The Italian midfielder admitted that he wasn’t able to perform according to his potential for Liverpool. As per Aquilani, he was not feeling comfortable in the Liverpool Camp and he wanted to make a move. Fiorentina showed interest in him and he decided to join the Italian club. Aquilani played 28 matches for Liverpool and he was able to score only 2 goals.

The authorities of Fiorentina have welcome Aquilani in the squad. The president of Fiorentina, Andrea Della Vale, said that he had seen Aquilani playing for Milan in the previous season. He is a bright prospect. He would get a very good environment here in Fiorentina and hopefully, he would flourish in the upcoming season. The president gave best wishes to Aquilani for the upcoming season.
