ALBERTO ACQUILANI SAYS BOATENG CONVINCED HIM TO JOIN LAS PALMAS

Former Liverpool player Alberto Acquilani has revealed that Ghanaian Kevin-Prince Boateng convinced him to join Las Palmas this summer. Both stars featured at AC Milan years back so there is history between them.


Acquilani agreed to a two year deal with the Serie A side.

“Prince told me this is an amazing place to play and I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter in my career. As well as technique and experience, I can offer other physical and mental aspects and footballing characteristics,” the 33-year old disclosed.

The former Premier League player says he is looking forward to the best in the La Liga with the quality players Las Palmas have.

Funny enough, Boateng would not be available to play alongside him as he moved to EintrachtFrankfiurt in a shock move recently. The 30-year old claimed he was moving back to German football due to family requirements.

FORGET LACK OF TITLES, TOTTI IS A LEGEND

Rafa Benitez once said that a lot of things that has to do with football are nothing but “lies.”


Most especially when it comes to metric used in placing players and clubs into the various categories from useless to greatest.

In spending 26 years at AS Roma, Francesco Totti finally hung up his boots at the age of 40 having joined theGiallorossi in 1989 as a 13-year old and lived his whole life in the city of Rome.

With the characteristic manner evaluations almost immediately trail retiring players, ball shot analysis of where the Italian belongs among the league of great players will for sure trail tabloids till another news worthy item drops. That is if he is even allowed the status of a great player.

The problem one-man squad professionals have – of course they are very few – isthe scoffy assumptions that players must prove themselves in different or at least bigger teams and leagues before they can be considered great.

Another harsher metric is the trophy counts especially the majors. This particular metric will for sure stay around because afterall the ultimate point of playing football is to get the round leather over the line between the sticks of your opposition and the ultimate point of winning is the trophies. Carragher on Aquilani

Jamie Carragher believes that Rafael Benitez made a mistake by signing Alberto Aquilani to replace Xabi Alonso.


He said that the Italian player was not good enough to replace a player of Alonso’s quality and that he believes Benitez made a mistake by signing him.

The former England international who is now working as a pundit said that Rafael Benitez was under pressure to sign a replacement for Xabi Alonso and made a mistake by signing Aquilani. He said that when the player arrived in 2009, he was already injured and that he only managed to play in October 2009.

He said that this is one of the biggest mistake made by Rafael Benitez. He agrees that no one could prevent Xabi Alonso from moving to Real Madrid at the end of the 2008 season, but Rafael Benitez made a mistake by signing an inadequate replacement.

AQUILANI: NO REGRET QUITTING LIVERPOOL

Former Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani has stated that he has no regrets about his ill-fated stint with Liverpool.


The former Liverpool midfielder arrived at the Merseyside from Roma in a deal that cost Liverpool around £17m. However, Aquilani’s Liverpool career was plagued with injuries that ensured the former Italian midfielder flopped during his stint in the premier league.

Aquilani throughout his Liverpool spell managed just 28 premier league appearances, eventually quitting the club in 2012, after brief loan spells with Ac Milan and Juventus.

Having left the premier league giant in 2012, Aquilani went on to play for Fiorentina for three years, and Sporting CP for one year. However, this summer, Aquilani signed for new boys Pescara where he now plies his trade.

I HAD A GREAT TIME WITH LIVERPOOL – AQUILANI

Former Liverpool man in the midfield, Alberto Aquilani who signed for Serie A newboys Pescara this summer alleged he has zero regrets over his stay at Anfield which was not up to par.


The Pescara new midfielder joined Liverpool from Roma in 2009, in a deal which cost the Reds around £20m, and unfortunately after his arrival, he picked up an ankle injury, Aquilani’s Liverpool career never got going, he struggled to appear just 28 times for the Reds, ultimately departing in 2012 after spells on loan with both Juventus and AC Milan.

The 32-year old spent three years at Fiorentina, and a year at Sporting CP before he joined Serie A newboys, Pescara this summer. While reflecting on his time at Liverpool in an interview with GazzettaDello Sport, the Italian said it was an honor for him to walk out at Anfield.

“I had a great time with Liverpool and I had the honor of wearing a special shirt and playing in an incredible stadium,” Aquilani said.

Aquilani speaks about his Liverpool career

Alberto Aquilani said that he has regret about his Liverpool career.

The Italian midfielder was touted as being the next best thing in football when he signed for Liverpool in 2009 but will fail to make an impact at Anfield. Indeed, he was signed in order to replace Xabi Alonso, who was moving to Spain but will fail to replace the Spanish midfielder.

However, the career of Alberto Aquilani was hindered by injuries. He could not make an immediate start after coming to Liverpool because he was injured and most of his time at Anfield will be marred by injuries. Indeed he only managed to make 18 appearances in the Premier League and could only manage one goal during that period.

When asked whether he has regret on the way his career has been with Liverpool he said yes. He admitted that he would have loved to stay longer with Liverpool, but unfortunately he could not make a decisive impact on the team. He said that injuries hindered his career and that he did not have time to adapt to the Premier League. He stated that he was even more affected when the manager who brought him to Anfield, Rafael Benitez left the team. He stated that he lost all his bearings and could not find a way back in the team.
