AQUILANI HAILS PEDRI’S ‘REMARKABLE’ DEVELOPMENT AT BARCA

Barcelona’s wonderkid Pedri has been getting a lot of attention from a lot of former players for his splendid performances both for his club and country and it does not look like those praises will be stopping anytime soon. The young midfielder was handed his debut by manager Ronald Koeman last season and he took his chance confidently, ensuring that he deserved being played consecutively in the La Liga last season. His impressive performances did not go unnoticed as he eventually earned himself a call-up to the Spain national team by head coach Luis Enrique as he was asked to join up with the squad for their Euros campaign.

Following his call-up to the Spain squad, a lot of people expected him to play little or no role in Spain’s tournament but the reverse was the case. He was again given the opportunity to perform on the big stage and the 18-year-old once again did not disappoint. He anchored the Spain midfield when he was on the pitch and played with a lot of confidence as though he was already 25. He was one of the best young players at the Euros and it followed up on the scintillating season he had at Barca last season.
