Aquilani Future Unclear

With the Italian season just about to kick-off there are a number of players who still have not defined their future and one of those examples is Fiorentina’s Alberto Aquilani who is expected to have talks with Fiorentina within the next few weeks or days.

Aquilani’s contract with Fiorentina expires on June of 2015 but the Italian midfielder was recently rumored to be on the radar of many clubs in the MLS but taking into consideration that the summer transfer window is only a few days away from being shut down, it looks like Aquilani will remain performing in Serie A for at least another season.

Ever since Alberto Aquilani made his move from Liverpool to Fiorentina, the veteran midfielder has managed to become an important figure for the club of Vincenzo Montella as he went on to makes 31 appearances helping the Italian outfit on securing the 4th spot in the previous edition of the league.

Vincenzo Montella has maintained a fairly low budget during the summer transfer window having signed a number of players on loan deals while others were added to the team without breaking the bank. Even though no big name performers were added to the squad, Fiorentina usually manages to squeeze its way into the top spots of the Italian League and since Aquilani is reaching the last few years or seasons of his career, he is eager to finish it on a high note and help Fiorentina on getting even higher spots than previously before.

The Europa League is an objective that Aquilani will be aiming for in the next season for his club.

Aquilani Unclear About Future At Fiorentina

The future of the Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani is unclear with his agent, Franco Zaviglia not sure about what is going to happen with his client at Fiorentina.

Aquilani still has a 1 year remaining with his contract at Fiorentina but with more clubs launching offers and displaying interest in the central midfielder, he is being linked away from Fiorentina but nothing official has been made.

Fiorentina is believed to have received interest and possible offers from Ac.Milan and Athletic Madrid for Alberto Aquilani. Ac.Milan is a club where Aquilani already has experience playing as he enjoyed playing at San Siro some years ago on a loan deal and during his time there, he made a number of impressive performances.

Aquilani’s agent,Franco Zaviglia told the media: “You’ll have to ask the magicians about the boy’s future. The situation is at a standstill. There has been no recent contact; the last contact was a month ago. What is the boy hoping for? That’s a question for him, not for me. I haven’t heard from him since the World Cup. I repeat the situation is at a standstill because it’s been a month that we haven’t spoken.”

The Fiorentina player took a plane to Brazil as he was named in the list of players that Cesare Prandelli announced for the 2014 World Cup but Aquilani had to settle with a place on the sidelines of the team and never managed on making a single appearance.

Aquilani wants to continue playing an important role for his club and try forget about the disappointing journey that Italy went through in this years’ edition of the World Cup where he failed on playing as well as having to witness his nation not being able to get past through the group stages.

GOALS

The match that Fiorentina played against Genoa will be 1 that Aquilani is not going to forget as he scored all the goals of his club rescuing 1 point for Fiorentina as the final scored displayed a 3-3 draw.

With the 2014 World Cup edging closer and closer and Italy’s midfield position being tightly battled with the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Riccardo Montolivo, Alessandro Diamanti, Claudio Marchisio and Antonio Candreva all in the running to be named into the squad of the head coach Cesare Prandelli.

The hat-trick arrived in a moment that will make Prandelli re-consider his options on the midfield area of his team.

The Fiorentina player did however sustain an injury that is scheduled to be leaving him out of the playing field for 2 weeks and he has already missed out of Fiorentina’s latest Serie A match which was against Atalanta. The Italian player picked up the injury during his club’s match against Cagliari.

A club statement read: “Alberto Aquilani picked up a Grade I hamstring strain during Saturday’s match against Cagliari. He has begun a recovery program and is expected to remain sidelined for approximately two weeks’’.

On July of 2013, Mario Gomez made his move to Fiorentina but following a series of injury problems, the former Bayern Munich player has made less than 5 appearances for the Italian club but despite having been featured on such a limited amount of times, Fiorentina has managed to maintain themselves at the top 5 spots of Serie A and according to Aquilani, he is confident that they can reach their targets.

“First of all we’d like to get back into the Champions League and to achieve that we’d need to finish in the top three. The second objective is to win the Coppa Italia. We’re in the semi-final and I think we can go all the way to the end of the competition. I am convinced we can achieve both our targets.” Aquilani told TopMercato.

AC CHASE SIGNINGS

Silvio Berlusconi and Ac.Milan have been at the center of the media’s spotlight recently after reports claiming that the CEO Adriano Galliani would exit the Italian club but some days later it was confirmed that he stayed and now has a new business associate as Barbara Berlusconi will be working at a more internal level with Ac.Milan.

Not only that but also rumors emerging suggesting that Silvio Berlusconi would sell the club after so many bad results in the recent years. The 77 years old entrepreneur stepped up and said that he has no desire on selling the club and even said that the squad suffers when he is not leading them to the right path.

“When I am not dealing with AC Milan, they go wrong,” the club’s honorary president told the Corriere dello Sport. “Last year, after a disastrous start, I was more interested in Milan and we nabbed third place. I believe the team need extra care today, too.”

The Serie A is reaching its mid-way point of the season and Ac.Milan are struggling to find their stride having only collected 4 triumphs out of 15 matches played.

The January transfer window still has not opened up but Ac.Milan already has a number of signings and arrivals scheduled to be completed at the time it re-opens. Valencia’s Adil Rami and CSKA Moscow’s Keisuke Honda will join the Italian club hoping they can push the squad ahead and start a new year that see them fighting once more for the Scudetto.

Ac.Milan also wants to secure the services of Genoa’s Juraj Kucka with Niang being used as a bait. The French youngster has failed to score a single goal in Serie A and it is believed that the crew has lost faith in him which is why all fingers are pointing to him as the next player to be transferred out of the club.

JUVE RETURN

Former Juventus midfielder Albert Aquilani will come up against his former teammates when Fiorentina take on the favourites for the title on Sunday. Juventus have made a good start to the season, but they have been overshadowed by the record of Roma. Rudy Garcia’s men have started the season with wins in all the matches so far. Despite this, Juventus have kept pace with them at the top of the table are they are just the few points below them. Fiorentina, though, will be providing a much difficult test for Antonio Conte’s men on Sunday.

Aquilani has been one of the good signings for Fiorentina, and he has helped Vincenzo Montella’s men to take seven wins from the opening 12 matches. Fiorentina are only four points behind Napoli, who are one of the favourites for the title. After missing out on the Champions League last season by finishing the fourth place, Montella will be looking to grab the top three spots this season. A victory against Juventus is going to be essential in order to do so since they could take advantage of the home factor.

Juventus also have their midweek exertions in the Champions league. Fiorentina’s last match finished in 0-0 draw with Lazio, while they have already lost against one of the title contenders in the form of Inter Milan earlier this season.

“I have no regrets and will celebrate if I score. There is the desire to win and this game means a lot to the fans, but I have no need for revenge. It is all in the past for me and I have no regrets. I want to put in an important performance and will celebrate if I score. Since coming to Florence I’ve realised this game is completely different to the others and the fans gave us such enthusiasm. We want to repay them on the field,” said Aquilani.
