AQUILANI: LIVERPOOL WILL BE A BETTER SIDE NEXT SEASON

The 2020-21 English Premier League season has finally come to an end and fans can finally start looking forward to the next football campaign. However, before then, they would first continue to follow the transfer activities of their respective clubs as the summer transfer window continues to draw nearer. Liverpool fans will especially finally have the rest of their mind knowing that their club eventually qualified for next season’s UEFA Champions League group stages even though they would not have believed it would happen in the middle of the season.

The Reds have now secured themselves a huge lifeline in their bid to attract top players to their club after finishing as one of the best four teams in the division. There have been talks about Liverpool being linked to a couple of top stars in the summer as they wish to abolish the memories of this season where they had a lot of injury concerns with some of their star players. They are now ready to sign more top players who would provide cover for the first-team stars in case they experience more injury-hit situations in the future.

AQUILANI RUBBISHES LIVERPOOL’S SUPER LEAGUE PARTICIPATION

For a normal football fan right now, it’s somewhat hard to think and focus like everything is fine and under control when in fact, it’s not. The football world could finally see a change and this one tends to change the face of the game for good. On Sunday night, reports were gathering pace about the formation and introduction of a new European Super League for football clubs, but the idea has attracted a lot of criticism and condemnation.

The whole idea, which is being heavily pushed by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, will see the world’s biggest and richest clubs come together and form a separate league of their own where they would be playing football matches against one another, but fans and football governing bodies have totally gone against the idea.

FAILED CAREERS: THE ALBERTO AQUILANI EDITION

When Alberto Aquilani signed for Liverpool just a little over seven years ago, if you followed the transfer story back then, even you, as a Liverpool fan, would have been beaming with a lot of excitement at the prospect of watching him play for the Reds. Everyone associated with Liverpool Football Club back then were already setting expectations and believed the arriving player would meet them.

The Liverpool manager at the time, Rafael Benitez had prioritized the signing of Aquilani and cited the former Italy international midfielder as the perfect candidate to fill the void left vacant by the departure of club legend Xavi Alonso. AQUILANI REVEALS WHAT ENDED HIS LIVERPOOL CAREER

 

Former Liverpool player Alberto Aquilani has revealed just what caused his Liverpool career to come to an unexpected end. The former Reds player joined Liverpool from Roma but didn’t live up to expectations, resulting in a failed Anfield career.


Having signed from Italian Serie A giants AS Roma for a fee reported to be in the region of £20 million, Aquilani was tipped for greatness. He was brought in as a direct replacement for the departing Xabi Alonso, who was going to join Real Madrid.

MARTENS EXTENDS CONTRACT WITH NAPOLI

 

Napoli’s all-time top scorer Dries Mertens has agreed on a new contract extension at Napoli. This ends the speculation that he is moving to the Premier League. Several clubs in England have tried to lure the diminutive Belgium international away from Naples.


The player joined the club in 2013 and after seven years of hard work he is Azzurri’s leading goalscorer with his 122nd against Inter Milan in the semifinal of Coppa Italia. He later led the club to Coppa victory against Juventus. The two sides played out a goalless draw in the final.

EVERTON WANTS ROMA MIDFIELDER

Everton have been linked with a summer move for As Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini. The 23-year-old is reported to be on top of the wish list of Carlo Ancelloti. Ancelloti joined Everton in December 2019, and he was said to have made enquiry about the Roma youth product in the winter transfer window, but no deal materialized, and the Toffees are expected to return for the player in the summer.


Juventus have won the league for eight straight years, and they are most likely to win their 9th straight title at the end of this season. However, this term the Serie A is quite different as it has become quite close and competitive at the top with five teams having a viable chance of clinching the Scudetto. Amongst those teams is Roma, who are just behind the leading pack.
